Insight into some pros and cons of modern technology

As the saying goes” necessity is the mother of invention” and I agree with that quite a lot. But we humans are not just needy and do everything to fulfill our needs. We are curious and in many ways, curiosity is one of the biggest factors that lead us to the advancements that we have made. So I might as well put it this way "curiosity is the mother of invention".

Touching new horizons;

Everything aside, technology has helped us in a lot of ways. As mentioned above, we humans are curious and technology has provided us with many of our answers.

The biggest example, I would say is the telescope, it has made us look into the deep horizons and helped us to clear doubts about our universe, we have discovered many new phenomenons that have blown our minds (The black holes, neutron stars, etc).

And it's not just the far worlds that we have seen, thanks to technology we have been able to lurk around the micro-world as well which as a result has solved many of our queries.

Efficiency in our lives:

Our world was a passive one. Everything used to be slow, But with the introduction of modern gadgets like engines and telephones, distances have reduced all thanks to technology.

Our lives have become more and more efficient since then.

But one thing that is important to add here is that most of the communication between humans is nonverbal (93% according to research)

As we do love to text a lot, those conversations lack the nonverbal part and one can misinterpret the meaning of a sentence which can be a big problem in itself.

A contributor to the downfall of the family system;

This problem is making headlines every was and most people face it today. In past it was more likely that parents would work on the grooming of their children in their spare time, nowadays however neither the parents nor the children seem to transition any time soon out of the 2d world of the screen, into our 3d world.

That results in lesser interactions between family members as a result children are not open to parents about their problems which can sometimes be dangerous for them.

WORLD; A global village (Does that even matter?)

I would say yes. It does matters, a lot! Fast communications, travel across countries in no time( compared to the past), increase In business, availability of more jobs and the list goes on and on. The point is technology has changed the way we live as a community. Global interactions have increased which benefits in a lot of ways.

But it's not just the good side that interacts on a global scale. Many crime networks and mafias have also managed to grow to a global scale. An increase in drug consumption and human trafficking is proof of that.

Our health;

Medically speaking technology has been helpful .we have advanced in both diagnosis and treatment of many different diseases. As a result, the average life expectancy has increased (compared to the eighteenth and nineteenth centuries).

But psychology speaking modern technology has a lot of drawbacks. The increase in screen time has a lot of side effects both in kids and adults.

Conclusion:

To sum it all up, like everything technology has its pros and cons but it is entirely based on our use.

But I would say the pros may outnumber the cons. It is really hard to imagine our current world without modern gadgets, machines, and computers, and nor would we like to imagine it that way.

Would you?
